Family Devotion 1: God’s Abundant Love
Theme: Understanding God’s Love
Activity Time: Dinner Time
Devotion:Opening Question: Ask your kids, "What is something you love a lot? Why do you love it?"
Bible Verse: Read Ephesians 3:18-19 together: "I pray that you may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge."
Discussion: Explain that God’s love is bigger than anything we can imagine. It’s wider, longer, higher, and deeper than anything we know. Ask, "How do you think God shows His love to us?"
Activity: Have each family member draw a picture of something that reminds them of God’s love. Share and discuss each drawing.
Prayer: Thank God for His amazing love and ask Him to help you understand it more each day.Parenting Tip: Encourage your kids to express their thoughts freely. There are no wrong answers when discussing God’s love.
Family Devotion 2: Boldness in Prayer
Theme: Praying with Confidence
Activity Time: Bedtime
Devotion:Opening Question: Ask, "What is something you would like to ask God for?"
Bible Verse: Read Ephesians 3:12: "In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence."
Discussion: Explain that because of Jesus, we can talk to God about anything. We can be bold and confident in our prayers.
Activity: Have each child think of one thing they want to pray about. Take turns praying out loud, encouraging them to speak confidently.
Prayer: Close with a prayer, thanking God for listening to us and for the freedom to talk to Him anytime.Parenting Tip: Model confidence in prayer by sharing your own prayer requests with your kids.
Family Devotion 3: Rooted in Love
Theme: Growing in God’s Love
Activity Time: During a Walk or Outdoor Play
Devotion:Opening Question: Ask, "What helps plants grow strong?"
Bible Verse: Read Ephesians 3:17: "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love..."
Discussion: Explain that just like plants need roots to grow strong, we need to be rooted in God’s love to grow in our faith.
Activity: Find a tree or plant and talk about its roots. Discuss how being rooted in God’s love helps us grow strong in our faith.
Prayer: Pray together, asking God to help you grow strong in His love.Parenting Tip: Use nature as a visual aid to help kids understand abstract concepts like being "rooted."
Family Devotion 4: God’s Power in Us
Theme: God’s Power at Work
Activity Time: During Chores
Devotion:Opening Question: Ask, "What is something powerful you’ve seen or heard about?"
Bible Verse: Read Ephesians 3:20: "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us."
Discussion: Explain that God’s power is greater than anything we can imagine, and it’s working in us to do amazing things.
Activity: As you do chores together, talk about how God’s power helps us do things we might find difficult.
Prayer: Thank God for His power in your lives and ask Him to help you use it for good.Parenting Tip: Encourage kids by pointing out ways you see God’s power at work in their lives.
Family Devotion 5: Opening Every Room to God
Theme: Letting God into Every Part of Our Lives
Activity Time: Before Bed
Devotion:Opening Question: Ask, "What’s your favorite room in the house? Why?"
Bible Verse: Read Revelation 3:20: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."
Discussion: Explain that Jesus wants to be part of every part of our lives, just like being in every room of our house.
Activity: Have each child think of one area of their life they want to invite Jesus into. Share and discuss.
